About Maunabo
Maunabo is Puerto Rico's southeasternmost town, where the east coast bends to the south. The geography here is different: limestone cliffs drop to the Caribbean, beaches are hidden, and the atmosphere is that of arriving at the map's edge. The Punta Tuna lighthouse, from 1893, still operates, and its park holds one of the broadest views of the southeast coast.
Maunabo's beaches — Playa Larga, Playa California, Playa Los Bohíos — sit at the foot of the cliffs, accessed by short trails. Some are nearly always empty. The town itself is small, quiet, with a plaza and the character of an end-of-the-map town. For anyone who wants to find Puerto Rico without fighting tourists, Maunabo is the answer.

MemoryMy family has had a house in Maunabo since the 70s. After Hurricane María we spent two weeks without power and all the neighbors cooked in the street. That's Maunabo — staying behind together.
