About Cataño
Cataño is the smallest town by area in the metropolitan zone, but it has one big advantage: it sits across San Juan Bay, with views of El Morro and Old San Juan in front. The Cataño ferry connects the two sides, and it's one of the cheapest, most beautiful rides in the country — seven minutes over the water with the capital's skyline ahead.
Casa Bacardí, the world's largest rum distillery, welcomes visitors with guided tours — Bacardí rum history (originally Cuban, moved to Puerto Rico after the Revolution), tasting, mixology. One of the most-visited guided tours in Puerto Rico. Cataño is small in surface area but big in purpose.

MemoryMy grandfather was a Cataño ferry sailor when I was a kid. I crossed that bay with him more times than I can count. Today I cross alone and still look for him in the cabin.
Diana
Local GemFor tourists who stay only in Old San Juan: hop on the Cataño ferry, have lunch at the malecón, come back at sunset. It's the best El Morro view there is.
