About Guaynabo

Guaynabo carries a huge historical distinction: Caparra was founded here in 1508, Puerto Rico's first permanent Spanish settlement, before San Juan became the capital. The Caparra Ruins, with adjacent museum, are one of the Caribbean's most important colonial archaeological sites.

The Puerto Rico Coliseum — nicknamed "El Choliseo" — is the island's largest arena, with international concerts (Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Marc Anthony have all filled it). Fort Buchanan is a U.S. military base; Levittown is a 1950s mass-suburb experiment; and modern Guaynabo's economy, with corporate towers and major malls, has earned it a reputation as a prosperous zone. It's metro with historical and economic weight.

Caparra in late afternoon

Concert at El Choli

Seeing a sold-out concert by a major Boricua artist at El Choliseo is its own cultural experience. The energy, the crowd, the national pride — worth chasing tickets.

Memory

My first concert was at El Choli — Calle 13, twelve years ago. I left voiceless and crying. That night I understood our music is part of something bigger.
