About Aguas Buenas
Aguas Buenas sits in central Puerto Rico, in the cordillera, just south of Caguas and 30 minutes from San Juan. The name comes from the springs and fresh waters that abound in the area — historically an oasis for travelers crossing south. It has one of the region's few accessible cave systems (Cuevas de Aguas Buenas, partially open depending on conservation), cool mountain air, and a small colonial town center with historic plaza. It's a quick escape from metropolitan heat without the time investment of going deeper into the cordillera.

MemoryAs a kid we visited the caves on a school trip. Bats coming out in a cloud at dusk. Stalactites that looked like castles. Today the caves are protected for the bats — and that's right. Some memories are better as memories.
Marcela
Local GemI live in Carolina. When the heat wears me out, I drive 30 minutes to Aguas Buenas, lunch in the plaza, walk an hour. I come back renewed. It's my secret for Puerto Rican summers.
